SHCA’s Conformation Awards

SHCA offers an annual award program to recognize significant accomplishments in the area of Conformation. Awards are presented annually at the SHCA National Specialty Banquet.

SHCA Show Dog/Bitch of the Year Awards

This award is presented to the SHCA MEMBER/APPLICANT whose Siberian Husky dog or bitch amasses the most award points in the show ring:

  • One point is awarded for each Siberian Husky defeated at an AKC show.

  • Points are awarded for Best of Breed or Best of Opposite Sex. Best of Opposite Sex receives points based on total number of dogs defeated of the same sex.

  • Points are based on wins received at AKC licensed/member shows during a calendar year.

  • It is recommended that an AKC Breed Dogs Defeated Report may be used to supplement the application

  • Applications must be completed and sent to the SHCA Conformation Awards Chairman (name and address below)

  • Applications must be received by the SHCA Conformation Awards Chairman by the deadline of June 30th of the following year (e.g., Applications for 2011 Show Dog/Bitch of the Year Award must be received by the Chairman by June 30, 2012)

SHCA Breeder of the Year Award

This award is presented to the SHCA MEMBER/APPLICANT who bred the greatest number of championships within a given year:

  • Fifteen (15) points are awarded for each AKC champion.

  • An additional five (5) points are awarded for each litter-mate after one.

  • Champions who do not have OFA and OFA CAER or SHOR numbers will not be counted.

  • Cases with extenuating circumstances (age/injury) may warrant exemption from the OFA, OFA CAER/SHOR rule, subject to approval by the Conformation Awards Chairman.

  • Offspring which are not of the proper age to be certified clear of eye and hip tests by the end of the award year are exempt.

  • An award year is measured from January 1 to December 31.

  • Applications must be completed and sent to the SHCA Conformation Awards Chairman (name and address below)

  • Applications must be received by the SHCA Conformation Awards Chairman by the deadline of June 30th of the following year (e.g., Applications for 2011 Breeder of the Year Award must be received by the Chairman by June 30, 2012)

SHCA Stud Dog/Brood Bitch of the Year Awards

This award is presented to the SHCA MEMBER/APPLICANT whose Siberian male sired or Siberian female produced the largest number of offspring that finished their championships within a given year:

  • Fifteen (15) points are awarded for each AKC champion.

  • An additional five (5) points are awarded for each litter-mate after one.

  • Stud Dog or Brood Bitch must have OFA and OFA CAER or SHOR certifications. Eye certification may not be more than one year prior to breeding date.

  • Champion offspring who do not have OFA and OFA CAER or SHOR numbers will not be counted.

  • Cases with extenuating circumstances (age/injury) may warrant exemption from the OFA, OFA CAER/SHOR rule, subject to approval by the Conformation Awards Chairman.

  • Championship offspring which are not of the proper age to be certified clear of eye and hip tests by the end of the award year are exempt.

  • An award year is measured from January 1 to December 31.

SHCA Best Owner-Handler Award

  • This award is presented to the Owner Handled SHCA member who accumulates the most points, either dog or bitch, in the Siberian Husky conformation ring from January 1 through December 31 of the calendar:

  • Points are awarded for NOHS BOB but no points are awarded for Group or BIS wins. 

  • Points are awarded as per AKC NOHS records plus an additional 5 points for regional specialty BOB and an additional 10 points for National Specialty BOB.

  • Points are based on wins received at AKC licensed/member shows during a calendar year (January 1 through December 31).

  • It is recommended that an AKC Breed Dogs Defeated Report may be used to supplement an application

  • Applications must be completed and sent to the SHCA Conformation Awards Chairman (name and address on SHCA website or published in the Bulletin)

  • Applications must be received by the SHCA Conformation Awards Chairman by the deadline of the following year (e.g. Applications for 2019 Best SHCA Owner Handler Award should be received by the Chairman by June 30, 2020)
