The Siberian Husky Club of America. The SHCA is the AKC-recognized national breed club, founded in 1938, and has a membership consisting of established breeders, exhibitors, fanciers, and sled dog racing enthusiasts.
As stated in its constitution, the objects of the Club are:
The Siberian Husky Club of America, Inc. annually hosts a National Specialty and Annual Meeting. Held in the Autumn, this nearly-week-long event moves around the country each year. The SHCA National is a Specialty Show and Obedience Trial, an educational opportunity, and many more activities. Elsewhere on this site, you will find information about the SHCA Nationals planned for the coming years. All SHCA events are open to members and non-members alike, and everyone is welcome to attend.
Additionally, SHCA offers educational opportunities in its publications (many of which are on this site), through other publications (such as the Newsletter and Annual Directory, both available through the Club), and through Judges' Study Groups and general educational seminars. SHCA offers support to local Siberian rescue organizations through the efforts of the Siberian Rescue Committee. Additionally, it confers many Sled Dog degrees on Siberians completing the requirements for this SHCA performance program. And, SHCA offers the Siberian Husky Ophthalmic Registry for ACVO-cleared Siberians.
